Dude Ranch Vacation in Colorado ~ All-Inclusive Family Vacation ~ Orvis Endorsed World-class Colorado Fishing Lodge

New Look

Our pool has received a makeover at the beginning of this summer. We now have a fence around the pool, more landscaping and a few more final touches are in the works. The fence along the river isn’t quite complete yet but will be soon. It will have railing like the new bridge so that everyone can still view and enjoy the sight and sound of the river. New gates were also installed that were custom made with our Bar Double Heart Bar brand within the railing. Check out the cool pictures.

Horses are now getting pastured outside the pool and will greet you as you head that way. Be sure to give them some tender, loving care on your way to take a dip. :) We hope you’ll be able to enjoy the new & improved pool at North Fork Ranch this summer.

Time To Reflect………….Part 2

As the Christmas season is fast approaching and December 1st is already here, I thought it would be the appropriate time to post the second part of our “reflection” pictures.

Our native bald eagle, “Baldy” has returned to the valley once again and was spotted soaring above the river this morning down here through the ranch. No matter how many times he passes through, he is always a site to see. We hope everyone had a wonderful Thanksgiving and is looking forward to the holiday season! We hope to see everyone next year at the ranch. http://www.northforkranch.com/

HAPPY TRAILS!!!!

He’s B-a-c-k!

Well our “peculiar friend” (bobcat) has returned to the ranch. Or is at least making himself seen in public. We enjoy seeing him “strut his stuff” around the ranch and hope you enjoy seeing him to. Not a super great photo here, but our fishing guide, Jeff was kind enough to sneak a quick picture in while trying to help a client catch a fish. :) Thanks again Jeff. One of our southern guests actually was able to see the bobcat, didn’t think it was to big of a deal, and described him as “You know….one of those cat thingies without the tail.” Very cute. :)
You can see a better shot of our friend from an older post on January 8th while he was lounging by the pool.

Last Hike of the Season

Well we just finished up our last week of “dude season” in our 25th year!! We had a great end to the season and Dean even got to go on the Square Top hike with some of our guests, and wrangler, Casey. They were fortunate enough to even spot some mountain goats that seemed to enjoy their company. Hey Kallie….here’s proof that Dean made it to the top. :)

We are now hitting it hard with our meeting groups and corporate retreats. We are all starting to re-adjust our roles and responsibilities. Even some of our “wranglers” are now wait staff and dishwashers! We’ll try to get a picture as they switch from cowboy hats to soapy hands. :)
Thanks to everyone (staff, guests, fisherman, etc.) for making this such a fantastic summer!
Stay in touch over the fall, winter and spring as we will continue to post to let you know what’s happening at the ranch.

Here We Go!!

There’s nothing like spring in Colorado. Warm weather one week and snow the next. As you can see, we are enjoying the snow this week. Five to six inches and it’s now snowing AGAIN. :) But that hasn’t stopped us from staying busy. We’ve been on the run since mid April with lots of corporate and meeting groups and fisherman. As you can see, Karen has been in the kitchen keeping everyone’s tummies full of the delicious North Fork food.

And….the first trailer full of horses are on their way to the ranch today! So our 25th Season is fast approaching. Let the countdown begin! (16 days till the official start of “dude season”)

Whoa!!!! Another One!

Yesterday was another exciting day on the river as some guests caught one of the biggest trout we’ve ever had here at the ranch. It measured 28″ long!!! Incredible!!! Please be sure to share our “prized trout” pictures with all your friends! :)

The “Big Boys” Are Back!!!

Our first fisherman of the new year joined us last week and the fishing was INCREDIBLE!!! Everyone was so excited & in awe of not only how many fish they were catching but how BIG they all were!! We are glad they kept their bellies full through the winter and are so active this spring.

The river is clear, flowing, and healthy….therefore our fish are very happy. :)
Enjoy these two photos of one of our “monster size trout” caught by one of our devoted fisherman, Howard from last week.
Howard was very kind to not only share his great pictures, but had some very kinds words to say as well. “Thanks for a stupendous day on the river on Sunday. The fishing was great, the food outstanding, the weather beautiful, the company divine. In my 6 years of fishing NFR, this without a doubt was a day where I caught more BIG fish than in any time past. I figured I caught (and gently released) over 150 lbs. of trout today!!!”
Come and “wet a line” with us this spring!!!

Curious Creatures

We were graced this morning with the site of a lone coyote. It was just cruising out back behind the house, sniffing around in the snow looking for food I’m sure. Pepper of course alerted us all that there was something outside with her keen senses (Yes…even though she is getting up there in age, she can still hear a few things. Although we do believe she is very familiar with the ever-famous “selective hearing”). :) So, we made sure to keep her inside while the coyote roamed about. Enjoy the pictures. Karen is the famous photographer of course. :)
